Hey there, I’m Jason.

I’ve been designing and building software for a long time, and I’ve spent most of that time somewhere in the space between people, design, product, and technology.

I’m curious by nature. I ask “why?” a lot — sometimes more than is convenient — and I’m usually most interested in the messy problems where the way people actually work doesn’t quite match the way a system assumes they work.

My background is in UX research and design, but over the years my role has expanded well beyond either label. I’ve led designers, worked alongside engineers, helped shape product strategy, facilitated teams, written code, and spent a lot of time translating between people who understand a problem from very different perspectives.

I care about making complicated things understandable. I care about accessibility. I care about evidence more than process theater. And I’m perfectly happy discovering that my original idea was wrong if it gets us closer to the right one.

Outside of work, I cook, build models, make things with my hands, spend an unreasonable amount of time on whatever rabbit hole currently has my attention, and share my house with a small collection of people and sighthounds.

I still ask “why?” a lot.
